01/21/2013. EVENT REPORT! Last night was the big screening of our film ST. BLACKTRICK at the world-famous Trocadero Theater! Our amoral adventure was screened as part of AVERAGE SUPERSTAR PRESENTS: A NIGHT OF SHORT FILMS IV. While BLACKTRICK is a little on the longish side for a short (25 minutes), the audience was enthralled and entertained throughout. We received lots of laughs and lots of love from the vocal and vivacious crowd. BLACKTRICK creator and MM Mastermind Mark Mackner was there, and several of the Monstros Madre Megastars were on hand as well. A wonderful time was had by all. Here's a few pics from the event!

11/14/2012. PROJECT UPDATE! Late last night, Mark completed editing for STUMP GRINDER, the Monstros Madre contribution to Newt Wallen's MIDNIGHT SHOW! "Stump Grinder" is a trailer for a lost 70's porn film that never existed, featuring a limbless lothario portrayed by Mr. Wallen. Newt's piecing MIDNIGHT SHOW together now, so hopefully, you'll all get to see this thing very soon. For now, enjoy this trailer still shot of Newt as the titular Stump Grinder.

10/22/2012. DAISY DERKINS REDUX! More shooting went down over the weekend! We wrapped Scenes 1, 2 and 17, and did more work on Scene 27. 10/11/2012. ANOTHER WORLD PREMIERE EVENT! Can your heart STAND it?! Two Monstros Madre films screening in ONE WEEK?! This one is ST. BLACKTRICK! We started making this for the Project Twenty1 Film Fest over the summer. But there was just too much awesome to contain in a 10 minute movie, so we screened the trailer at P21 instead. NOW the film is ready to be unveiled, in all its splendor! The magic happens SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10th at the A and E Studio (1233 Vine St in Philly), 8:00pm. This is a spoof trailer for a lost 70's porn film called "Stump Grinder" about a limbless Italian lothario, played by "Midnight Show" mastermind NEWT WALLEN (of UNDERBELLY). This is Monstros Madre's contribution to "Midnight Show", which is described by Wallen as "a remix tape for local filmmakers" as well as a "love letter to trash cinema". All the trailers created for MS will be collected on a DVD compilation celebrating 70's low-budget film. We're looking forward to local screenings, in addition to possible DVD distribution. 8/27/2012. WORLD PREMIERE! Last night was the big world premiere of Monstros Madre MEGAstar ANDRE BENNETT's short film THAT VOODOO YOU DO! The screening was held at the historic world-famous TROCADERO THEATER in Philadelphia. The film stars TYLER SPENCER and CHRISTOPHER TAIT (of ELECTRIC SIX fame) and Monstros Madre Mastermind Mark Mackner! We got a GREAT reaction from the audience! They were HOWLING with laughter. It was quite a thrill watching it on the big screen with a bunch of strangers. A stunning success all around. 8/9/2012. PROJECT TWENTY1! For the fourth year, the Project Twenty1 Film Fest (Teams from all around the world have 21 days to complete a film) will boast another MARK MACKNER original! This is only the second time that Mark is operating as Team Monstros Madre (After last year's entry SKEE-TITZIN'), but he created the original DAISY DERKINS, DOGSITTER OF THE DAMNED! and EMBALMO! under a different team moniker. This time, Monstros Madre shall bring you ST. BLACKTRICK, a Biblical epic that could only have sprung from the mercurial mind of Mark Mackner. In the Year 400, Ireland has become overrun with maneating snakes. The people live in fear of The Mighty Set (The Serpent God) and his High Priestess Lisseth (Stephanie Mae), who commands his snake army on Earth. Hope arrives in the form of BLACKTRICK (Jim Black), the baddest, blackest motherfucker from South Central Belfast. Will his master swordplay and heavy artillery be enough to drive these snakes out of Ireland once and for all?
ST. BLACKTRICK... when he's not driving the snakes out of Ireland, he's driving the ladies wild!
ST. BLACKTRICK... if you're a snake in the grass, he'll be whoopin' yo ass!
Filming began last weekend, and will wrap up this Sunday. 5/18/2012. IT'S A WRAP!!!! The brand-new trailer for the upcoming remake of the original DAISY DERKINS, DOGSITTER OF THE DAMNED! short is COMPLETE! The trailer was made to be a part of NEWT WALLEN'S MIDNIGHT SHOW grindhouse trailer compilation and, as such, we're not at liberty to share it with you just yet. We'll let you know as soon as we get the OK to post it.

4/27/2012. NEW PROJECT! Monstros Madre has been asked to contribute to NEWT WALLEN's MIDNIGHT SHOW! "Midnight Show" is an upcoming DVD compilation of modern drive-in/exploitation/grindhouse trailers. We've been asked to whip up an awesome new trailer for our very first film DAISY DERKINS, DOGSITTER OF THE DAMNED! "Midnight Show" is also a joint venture with MAGNET and TROMA. MAGNET will select one trailer to be developed into a big budget feature! That could be us! At the very least, we'll be on the "Midnight Show" DVD, which will bring us lots of free exposure. Mark Mackner shall direct and edit the trailer, which boasts a mostly-new cast and slightly better production values. Thomas Kemmann will handle cinematography, A. Scrivener will assist Mark with the stop motion animation on the Cerberus model, Roxie Pepper will do make-up effects and Andre Bennett will provide the voiceover. The trailer shall star Mary Sack, Faith Hess, Stephanie Mae, Mikus, Doug Layne, Shoshanna Hill, and Mark Mackner. Shooting begins Monday, April 30th! 4/17/2012. STAGE NEWS!!!! Monstros Madre has deep roots in theater. After all, Mark Mackner had written and directed stage shows for 10 years before he got the film bug. Now, after a 3 year hiatus, Mark makes his grand return to live theater in an upcoming show, to be written and directed by the insanely talented A. Scrivener. The piece will be performed in a church in a delicious bit of irony. Here's a sampling of Ms. Scrivener's work, the surrealist horror short "Dress". It's the kind of horror film that you thought could only come from someone like David Lynch or David Cronenberg, but in six mind-blowing minutes, Ms. Scrivener proves she has the goods. 3/14/2012. AND SO IT BEGINS! Today we'll be having the first production meeting for Rachel Radick's WOMANTIS! Ms. Radick will be producing her original concept, co-writing the script with Mark Mackner (who is also directing). WOMANTIS is the story of a group of super-hot vixens who also happen to be giant man-eating insects. Today Rachel & Mark will begin fleshing out the plot a bit more, and perhaps get into when and where filming will commence. Keep checking back for regular updates! WOMANTIS is sure to be the sexiest, goriest, most talked about local indie horror film in ages! This short film is a loving homage to German Expressionist Horror films of the 1920's. It's sort of a loose retelling of THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI. This silent, black and white horror story is written & directed by Monstros Madre Mastermind Mark Mackner, shot by BLOODBATH IN THE HOUSE OF KNIVES auteur Ted Moehring, and features Monstros Madre MEGAstars Dave Ferrier, Stephanie Mae, Doug Layne, Faith Hess, and Shoshanna Hill. 1/31/2012. Check out this sneak peek at our upcoming debut feature film THE HALF-LIFE HORROR FROM HELL! This is Scene 23, The Morgue Scene. Cory Kastle is radiation specialist and all-around stud DR. VANCE MANLEY, called into the small town of Personburg, PA to investigate claims of radiation in the woods. When two local goons turn up dead (and surrounded by radioactive footprints), Dr. Manley goes to the county morgue to inspect the bodies. There, he meets the kooky (yet adorable) DR. BARBER, portrayed by the lovely Beth Boyle. This scene (as well as the rest of the film) is written & directed by MARK MACKNER. Cinematography duties for this scene only went to CHRISTOPHER LONG of Visual Outrage Productions. Give a watch, and let us know what you think! It's only 3 minutes, and it's got boobs!
12/21/2011. NEW PROJECT! Monstros Madre is currently in production for the first episode of SILAS KILLINGTON'S CAVALCADE OF CARNAGE! This new show is a late night horror hosting program, which may be aired on local public access. Evil SILAS KILLINGTON is your host, along with RENFIELD (formerly DRACULA's lackey), his sidekick and EL GAUCHO, the show's announcer (And legend of lucha libre). In addition to screening classic genre films, our dastardly duo will be hosting exciting guests, including super-villains, monsters, artists, and other assorted oddballs. Here's your FIRST LOOK at the show... Silas and Renfield chat with their inaugural guest, MIA DeSPELL! You may know her as a master practitioner of the Black Arts, or as the bassist for such goth/punk outfits as WEAPONS OF ASS DESTRUCTION and CATATONIC FUCK PUPPET.
